It's called a Panama Chair..

OK, here's the story....
I saw this chair in the back room at the thrift waiting to be put on the floor.
I have to stand on my tippy toes and look over a tall shelf to see back there.

It was on the top of the pile laying on it's back.  Waiting to be priced and put on the floor.

I really couldn't tell what condition it was in or even if I would want it.
But I had a hunch..

I waited and waited and waited.  I don't want to tell you how long I waited.
You would think I was nuts for sure.
Then it went missing!  I couldn't see it anymore and it was not on the floor.
I panicked.  Asked Josh, he couldn't find it.  He thought maybe they threw it out because it was junk!!

Can you get it back Josh?  No, I'm not allowed.
My heart is racing.

I hung my head low and went to the counter to pay for the other chair and treasures.
The owner is standing there.  I always felt like he was not a nice guy.
I had to do it.
So I asked, he went in the back got it out of the trash and said I could have it for a very good price!  I have trouble telling prices because if I resell I don't know what people think.

I'm so happy this ended well.  It doesn't always.
When I was taking it out, a man stopped me and told me it was a Panama Chair.  They would put them out on the ships while they went through the Panama Canal and people would sit and watch the scenery.  He said very rare from the 40's!!
Well you know that just topped it!

Now, should I recover it or leave it as is.  You can't sit on it now but it sure looks cool.
Hope you are having a great day and find some treasures!!  I so enjoy your comments, they make my day!

Treasures this week!

You can see these very well because of the glare, they are old religious prints

We always pick up these old tarnished pitchers, great for flowers or utensils.  I love the patina.
I have trouble walking away from doilies, don't you?!
An old picture frame that I will shabby up.  Old White or Provence?  What do you think?
I think I will recover the seat on the old step stool if I can figure out how to get that plastic off.
A pretty little china bowl with a lid, I like the color.

I like this shabby chippy wire, what I'm doing with it I have no clue.
A pretty plate for our vintage wedding rental business and a milk glass cake plate that I might put up on a pedestal.
A sweet little shelf I will shabby up.

I'm not sure about this old carving.

This is what's on the back.
Interesting...

This is for Would you buy it? Wednesday.
What is it you ask?
I have no clue.
But I liked the color and the patina.
What's the chain for?!

If nothing else works you can always put a plant in it!
Right?!

Do you like the clay pot?
I can't raise the handle with this one in it.

Or the rusty old white one.  Ignore the dead plants, I will fix that.

I can raise the handle with this one.
I think I like this one the best.  Anything white and shabby gets me every time..hehe!

Good Sunday morning light!!

Good Sunday morning to all of you!

Aren't these the prettiest roses?!
I picked them up yesterday at Pattie Anne's Vintage Land.
A new shop just opened in Mt Dora Floirda.
Mt Dora is growing by leaps and bounds these days.
I have several friends that have the most adorable shops.
Pattie Anne's Vintage Land, lots of great vendors that you might know!!
Hoity Toity Mercantile

My Mom was a china painter.  She painted the cute dust pan here.
She has been gone almost 18 years now and I miss her so much.

I just put all this together this morning and liked it.  Isn't it funny how things come together, the light bulb goes off?!  I'm always rearranging, moving things around.  No one seems to mind.
The cute box came from When Pigs Fly.  It's a platter holder, that's why the wire is there.  I might use it for that someday.
Happy Sunday to you and thank you so much for visiting me!  It makes my day and makes me smile!

Weekend Treasures...

I found this last weekend in Jacksonville when I visited my daughter.

He had it full of tools and a pretty high price of $50.00!

Well, I didn't pay $50.00 and I didn't get the tools.
I just love the color the size and the metal handle.

I bought this at the thrift store.  I like the size but didn't like the color.
I almost forgot the before.

Here it is after!!

I love it!

I had to stop for another Tababola tree.

I love what they do to the ground.
My friend Susie of From My Home to Yours says the flowers dry up nicely.
I haven't tried it yet but I will.

I have one that's about 2 inches tall.  I probably won't be living here when it blooms.

I hope you are enjoying your Monday.  We just keep having the most beautiful weather here in Orlando, I know the heat is just around the corner.
Thank you for visiting me, your comments brighten my day!!

Winter Garden Florida!!

Welcome to Winter Garden, as the sign says.
Chic, The Boston Lady and I went to Winter Garden for a little junkin.  Yes, you can junk in Winter Garden.

Can you see them?

Mom and Dad tending the nest together.  I think that's wonderful.
The man should always be involved in child rearing..Don't you think?

Off to go food shopping!!
Those little ones get real hungry ya know.

Phyllis is ALIVE!!
The Boston Lady and I went to Winter Garden over a year ago and met Phyllis at the Feed Store.
She lives by the register.
They say she is bipolar, but I don't think so.  Look at that sweet face!  You can even hold her, if you feel the need.

Then there is bunny.  Who was very nice and liked Phyllis.  I think they are bff's.

And piggy!!
Her name is Pinky.  Why?  They don't know...

Who looked dead to me.  Didn't move a muscle.
We left for a while and came back to this.....

Pinky moved to the litter box!!
That makes perfec sense to me.

Tried to wake her up but she never would even open her eyes.

Here is Chic going in the Feed store to find all the treasures!!

It's a sweet little town.  There is a bike trail right through the middle of town.

Beautiful old homes.

I even like this one, I could do so much here!

Quaint old fire station.

With an old train out front.  I would think they use this as an office or something.

This one's around the corner.

Remember these?  I do.

And the guy in town.  RC Stevens was my step grandfather.  He started the company in downtown Orlando in the 20's I think.
Allyn Stevens, the best step father in the whole world was mine!!  He passed away about 6years ago.  I miss him so much.  It wasn't easy going in here and seeing huge pictures of Baca(we called him that) and Ray on the walls.  Because this was my life growing up.  The company is sold now and we don't have much of a connection anymore.  But I'm so glad they have kept the name and they honor these men because they are who made this company.
RC Stevens did have a lot to do with building Orlando.  A couple things they did were ORMC, called Orange Memorial in the beginning and the Science Center way back when it was first built.
Anyhoo, enough of that.
We had a great time.
We had lunch at the BBQ place, I didn't think to take a picture of it.  But it was great
It's a very small area, about 2 blocks.
I'm linking this because Winter Garden is Vintage and Thrifty!!
It's a beautiful day here in Central Florida.  I hope you are enjoying your day.
